Evaluation.

The making of these products were produced with the help of D.T.P's (Desk Top Publishers), Over the course of the year I have gained a great amount of knowledge and skill in the designing aspect of my media magazine. Planning.

This area of my blog will contain information about the planning, and ideas I created towards the making of my product. various sources of Designs coming from Adobe In Design or Adobe Photo shop, and other designing programs

The above scanned documents are brief idea of the entire magazine layout from cover to cover, giving a shallow look into how the magazine would go through story boarding and production. Down below, i will go through some details concerning the masthead designs, as this is probably the most important feature on the front cover, other than the artist. Mastheads must be eye catching and Bold, be able to stand out on the Page and grab the readers attention instantly; but must also maintain a certain subtlety about itself as if to say it doesn't want to "scare" or "put off" the reader completely because its right in the face of the reader. Going through some drafted designs, i will explain why i chose my final Masthead above most and will leave descriptions in the captions below the print screened image of why the displayed mastheads below where good enough, but presented some flaws.
 
 


 
 




This being the 1st idea supporting the "un-cluttered" straight forward look
it helps emphasise the point that my media product is not to flashy and off
putting but rather straight-to-the-point readership which can attract
plausible attention from the right crowd.

This being the 2nd idea i formed, it doesn't really support the previous point
about maintaining the "un-cluttered" look, this masthead design is more
"in-your-face" and is set to completely grab the readers attention as soon
as the magazine is picked up, Letters are arranged in a neat way, in an
aerial standardised font, supporting its overall delivery of "simplicity".

This being my 3rd and final idea of my mast head, shows a slight intersection
between the last two ideas. As it is not too flashy but still maintaining a
unconventional edge due to its positioning in the top right hand corner of
the page, but this positioning has given way for the main focus to be on
the pictured artist that would be in thee middle of thee page. I chose this idea
because it paved way to a better looking front cover, which seemed
attractive and more economically beneficial once I surveyed this idea.

Research.

This area of my blog will display different aspects of research methods I have taken into account, the information i have gathered on an existing media product, and further research into the target audience. I have decided to best display this research in the form of a Power Point Slide which consist of a concise amount of information, covering the introductory main area's and aspects of a magazine(Front Cover & contents Page).

Re-presentation & Mediation

This week, we learnt about a key concept; Representation which is "the way people, places and events are re-presented to us in the media. They do this through the Process of 'Mediation'. This is when someone has made a decision to choose a specific picture or use of words, which they then show to they're specified audience allowing the audience to connotatively create they're own views on what they see

e.g 

This example headline page, could create views of racism, and the notorious 'Pun' "Slumdog" that the news of the world have used to portray their collected news.

I've never studied media before, and I've heard a lot of talk about how much of a "mediocre" subject it is.....barely started the course but i am yet to make my own judgement on it..
